“Breakfast in a cup,
Or a post lunch pick me up,
Grab a flat white on the fly,
Or sit and watch the world go by.”
Anonymous Coffee Co. is an independent, family owned and operated specialty coffee roaster based in South Oxfordshire. Phil and the team source, roast and deliver responsibly produced specialty coffee across the UK. We employ a small, talented and committed team to help us achieve this. We believe they deserve reading for their commitment so we are a living wage employer ensuring they are paid a real living wage.
Our mission is simple…to make great quality, great tasting coffee easy to enjoy; and to do some good in the process.
To achieve this we work with suppliers and producers that support great projects at home and at origin. We offer a variety of blends and single origin specialty coffees all of which are traceable back to the producer, or purchased by direct trade. We pay well above market price for all of our traded coffees and we are working to provide a detailed breakdown of every penny (or cent) spent on each coffee.
We strive to offer a concise and considered cross section of the amazing variety of coffee available today, only purchasing fresh crops, and only after they have been rigorously selected.
All of our coffees are available for you to purchase as beans, or ground for your preferred brew method through our web store, or from one of our growing family of retail partners.
If you are lucky enough to work in, or visit Thames Tower you can enjoy our coffee in the wonderful surrounds of Roost on the 14th Floor. Our freshly roasted coffee is also served by a host of our friends around the south east and in London, and you will find us brewing at local pop ups, markets and events, follow our social media to find out more…
We want to have as little impact on the environment as possible so we choose who we work with very carefully, building relationships with responsible producers and partners who take the climate and environment as seriously as they do the quality of their coffee.
Our commitment to the planet
Greenspark partnership: Through our collaboration with Greenspark, every retail purchase contributes to global reforestation and plastic waste removal, making a tangible impact on the environment.
Eumelia collaboration: We're working with Eumelia to offset our carbon footprint, ensuring our operations are as eco-friendly as possible.
B Corp Certification: We're proud to announce that we've begun the journey towards B Corp certification, reflecting our dedication to social and environmental responsibility.
Turning our waste into growth: We make sure that nothing goes to waste. All of our spent coffee grounds and chaff from the roasting process are collected and reused by local growers and agriculturists—keeping it out of landfill and putting it back into the soil where it belongs.
Sustainable sourcing: our coffee producers
We partner with producers who share our commitment to sustainability:
Brazil – Daterra: As the first Rainforest Alliance Certified farm in Brazil and the world's first to achieve 'A' grade sustainability certification, Daterra leads in eco-friendly practices. Their beans form part of our No Name and Fernwood blends as well as being available as single origin.
Colombia – Viani (Racafé): Racafé's CRECER program focuses on environmental management and community building. Their 2024 sustainability report highlights ongoing efforts to promote sustainable farming practices.
Costa Rica – Coope Dota: Pioneers in sustainability, Coope Dota became the world's first carbon-neutral coffee processor in 2011. They continuously implement projects to reduce their carbon footprint.
Honduras – AMPROCAL: This women-led cooperative empowers female farmers, promoting gender equality and sustainable agriculture practices.
Brazil – Swiss Water Decaf: Utilising a chemical-free decaffeination process, Swiss Water ensures that decaf doesn't compromise on quality or environmental standards.
Papua New Guinea – Kongo Coffee: With over 20 years in the industry, Kongo Coffee supports local communities while producing high-quality beans.
Guatemala – Fedecocagua: This cooperative focuses on sustainable farming and improving the livelihoods of its members.
Rwanda – Kinini: Kinini works closely with local farmers, many of whom are widows from the Rwandan genocide, to produce premium coffee and invest in community development projects.
Sustainable packaging: from cup to courier
Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our coffee sourcing:
Eco-friendly coffee cups: in the roastery & at events we use cups made from plants and certified compostable. These cups are designed to break down in commercial composting facilities, reducing landfill waste.
Carbon-compensated coffee bags: Our coffee bags aren't just a pretty green colour to match our branding, they are CO₂-compensated. The company we buy from invests in CO₂-reducing projects in coffee-growing countries, ensuring that the carbon footprint of producing these bags is offset.
Sustainable shipping materials: Our orders are dispatched in recyclable cardboard boxes and on the retail side we use sugarcane-based mailing bags. These materials are designed to minimise environmental impact while ensuring your orders arrive safely.
Low-impact logistics: We currently ship via Royal Mail, who have the UK’s lowest average parcel carbon footprint. It's another way we’re working to keep our environmental impact as low as possible—right through to your doorstep.
Your role in sustainability
By choosing Anonymous Coffee Co., you're not just serving exceptional coffee—you're supporting a global movement towards sustainability and ethical sourcing. Together, we can make a difference, one cup at a time. People matter to us which is why we make sure all of our producers are paid a fair price, and receive support in many other ways and through a variety of projects and support programs. We are also a Living Wage employer meaning that all of our staff are paid at least the national living wage.
Supporting our communities
We are proud to work with several local charities…
Launchpad - we consulted with the charity to commission an espresso bar and supply the necessary equipment in their new training centre in Reading. We have run several seasons of barista training and have enabled the charity to offer service users on going training and experience in house.
PACT - we supported their drop in cafe providing barista training to service users. We also facilitated a project for the service users to create and sell their own special blend of coffee to raise money for their own project as well as project waterfall at origin in Ethiopia.
Home Start - we donated proceeds from the sale of our Xmas ‘goodwill blend’ to the charity to help pay for support staff to help struggling families with young children in the local area.
Helen & Douglas House - we donated half the sales from a charity event to to this worthy charity that helps local families cope with the challenges of looking after a terminally ill baby or child who will die prematurely. They are a home from home for their patients and their families, and provide round-the-clock care in a warm, loving environment.
We really hope you like what we do, and you can rest assured that you are doing some good with every sip…
